Google Android hits 100,000 application milestone on Android Market
Google has passed another important landmark in their quest to conquer the mobile market - we're looking at the Android Market surpassing the 100,000 application mark, which is notable, but it doesn't really put a dent in Apple's App Store where total number of apps are concerned. Of course, purists would argue about the amount of shovelware in the App Store (the Android Market is not exempt either), but for the sake of numbers, the Android Market is still far behind by more than two thirds. We would say that this bodes well for the Android platform and it shows that you don't need a closed hardware ecosystem to do well, where Microsoft might want to take a page out of Google's book with their Windows Phone 7 launch.
